Manual Machinist Grinder

Job Description – Manual Machinist / Grinder Who we are: Corrosion and Abrasion Solutions Ltd. (“CASL”) was founded around a vision to construct a surface engineering service company capable of meeting the worldwide requirements of multinational energy, petrochemical and mining companies. With a business now leading the Canadian market for wear prevention, CASL is poised to commence the next phase of expansion. Our Nisku operation provides working condition that is normal for manufacturing environment; work involves lifting materials and machinery tools. Mechanic operates heavy equipment and requires the use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots and hard hats. The opportunity: The Manual Machinist / Grinder works with both the component reman and downhole tools groups to machine and grind components to customer or internal specifications. The ideal candidate would be one with machining background and knowledge of and experience with cylindrical grinding. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Rough and finish grind carbide, chrome, and steel to tight tolerance while determining grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used. • Read and interpret charts, drawings, and blueprints • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments. • Measure, examine, and test completed units to ensure the requirements are met by using precision instruments. • Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and other specialized tools to perform daily machining operations. • Observe operating machines and equipment to prevent, and if needed, diagnose machine malfunctions requiring maintenance, adjustments, or repair. • Lift and move parts around the plant. • Mount grinding wheel, dress wheel according to specifications. • Utilize micrometers, calipers, and preset gauges. • Set up automatic work feeding device. • Check grinding wheels for cracks. • Maintain a clean and safe work area. Other requirements are: • Journeyman certificate preferred, will accept Apprentices. Preference will be given to those with manual experience in a repair environment • Minimum of five years’ experience in machining. • Working knowledge of manual lathes, mills, drill presses
