I had been using a Cyrus 1 for my workshop system, great sound and drove most of my speakers quite well but some of them wanted a bit more power. I picked up this Cyrus 2 and optional PSX power supply as it's rated at 50 watts. Excellent amplifier with a wide and deep soundstage.
At first I ran the amp on it's own but with the larger power supply just sitting there I eventually opened up the amp, removed the two fuses and plugged in the PSX.
Reviews said it made a big difference, maybe.. it did sound a bit tighter to me and the amps power supply just had to handle the turntable pre-amp. It has two phono stages, a moving magnet and a moving coil that one selects with a switch on the back.
It worked well with CD players and turntables moving in and out. We used the tape in for as an Aux input but never did any tape recording. Same with the video's audio input.. but as everything else has worked fine I expect they will to. We have given it a good dose of Deoxit to clean the contacts before pulling it from the workshop.
If I liked it so much why am I selling it? I bought a Cyrus PSX and it came with an Cyrus 2 that didn't work. Surprisingly, we got them working, but cosmetically they're in much rougher shape so the better ones are for sale. And my wife asked if I needed two the same? Had to admit no, so selling one to make room for something else.
These are older pieces and show a fair amount of wear and tear I tried to show it in the photos. But they still make the music .. play.
